Continued Native American Theme

I really enjoyed doing this piece. It's more of a scroll saw project and some artistry with a paintbrush.

I call it "Sadness". I saw an article on this piece on a scroll saw site and gave it my own touch. It has been done using 1/4" Furniture grade plywood and is 9: wide by 11" tall.

Another chief. I didn't paint this one. Instead, It has just been finished with an amber shellac and polyurethane.

There are also a couple small pieces that I was fooling around with just for fun.

Going Native Update

I'm still working on the finishing touches on this one. This is the direction I took with my Chief.
The headdress I was using with the feathers all at the top wasn't quite the look I was going for. The Mrs'. told me it was more Algonquin. It looked cool but not what the majority would expect after watching a John Wayne movie.
I really liked the Viking that Woodcarver Jim did using the shield as the background. I bought the idea to this piece but think that my next version may be a dream catcher.
So, here it is for your review.
It's carved from reclaimed pine and is approximately 7" X 7".

Going Native Wood Carving

Just a bit of fooling around this week since I have been really busy at work.

Earlier in the week from a scrap piece of wood from a cutoff, I made this guy.

I really liked how he turned out but was thinking that a headdress would be nice. So from the same size piece of scrap I ended up with this piece.

Not much of a headdress but I liked the direction that I was going in. So I put the 2 together and came up with the following.

I think that the headdress is more on track but not quite where I need it yet.

Today is a new day though and hopefully, I can add #4 by this evening. I'm pretty worn out from this weeks overload so I'm going to have a take it easy day.

I know that I do have to at least get some seeds ordered for the garden
