Memorial Day, The Mustang P-51 Build

Growing up in the shadows of WWII and the soldiers that fought in that war, My relatives that had served in Germany, The South Pacific, Korea and then Vietnam, I have an appreciation for this Nations History and those that gave their lives for the freedoms we have today.

I also appreciate the equipment used by our Nations Defenders and I figured, what better a day to present my latest project.

Just so you know where I am coming from, take a little trip, http://acepilots.com/planes/p51_mustang.html

You can check out the real thing at the link I have provided and catch up on the history and the Fighter pilots that flew these aircraft in combat.

So here is my version of the Mustang P-51.

I have designed mine as something called a Whirligig. It will pivot like a weathervane and the propeller as the last photo shows spins very smoothly.
I'm not very happy with the lettering and I think that with my next build, I will just leave it off.

I hope that those that know me can also appreciate some of the subtle humor incorporated the numbering and the naming. You may have to zoom in a bit to make it out. Try to see how well your memory is.

Thanks for visiting and have a Happy Memorial Day. Honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice.
