Pepperoni Stromboli (An Ironic Chef Recipe)

Description:
I Love Pepperoni. This is my version of the Pepperoni Sandwich.

Ingredients:
1 pizza dough
3 cups of flour
2 1/2 tsp of yeast
1 tbs of sugar
2 tsp of salt
1 1/8 cups of water
1-2 tbs of olive oil

Mix all the ingredients together in the mixer then allow the machine to knead the dough for 10 minutes. Spray a bowl with vegetable spray, place dough in bowl and the spray the top of the dough with the spray. Cover and let rise till double in size.
When ready to use, gently remove the dough from the bowl, gently stertch the dough to about the size of the sheet pan you will be using. By gentle, don't knock all the air out of the dough.
Sliced pepperoni, try not to use enough to blow a heart valve.
Tomato sauce.
1/2 lb of shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Hot Pepper Flakes, Garlic and Oregano to taste.

Directions:
Pepperoni Stromboli.
Stack on the pepperoni in nice rows.

Add lots of Mozzarella Cheese.</span">

Just a little bit of sauce, A bit of hot pepper flakes, garlic and oregano.

Roll jelly roll style.

Pinch seam to seal.

Place on a baking sheet seam side down.

Score for venting.

Fresh baked, mmmmmmm the smell is out of this world.

Now this is a Pepperoni Stromboli.

Mac you are TERRIBLE for my diet. I'm printing out this blog of yours..and sending it my daughter..they get pepperoni there, so now she knows what to make for me when I visit. TY...great treat this was..if only virtual.

  5. Mac, here I buy the pizza dough from the local pizzeria for .50 fresh every day. I make the strombolis with eggplant, spinach, parma ham, broccoli rabe, anything really, and keep them on hand for the teens to snack on. It truly is a economical way to keep people full. The pictures on the process were excellent, almost as good as Nonna showing it to me herself-LOL.

  6. I am a pepperoni fanatic and just wanted to show this version of the Stromboli because I had a craving for making one yesterday. The 10 pound bag of sliced pepperoni we bought at the warehouse store may have had something to do with it.
Another favorite Stromboli is a sausage, pepper and onion Stromboli with either hot or mild Italian sausage.

  7. Do you let the loaf rise before baking?

  8. No Vero. I let the dough rise before flattening. Just as you would for a pizza crust. Before putting it into the oven I let it rest for 10 minutes.

  10. i have got to stop visiting this site....i am going to have to show my daughter this...that would be a great thing to make for a teenage get together....bet it would be good with Italian sausage and canadian bacon on it also....not worried about the pepperoni killing me...but the pepper sure would...make like a regular pizza with all the good stuff on it...

  11. Sherry, Just keep the sauce content very small. I serve my Stromboli with a sauce for dipping. Sauce in the Stromboli makes it very messy to cut.
